I am a programming and gaming enthusiast who has been engaged in neuroscience research for many years (references). I like data because it is not only related with my research, but also helps me argue with others. When I argue with others on Weibo for some things, it is a very cool thing to come up with some data to support my words, which is the beauty of data.
The world has changed very quickly. Ten years ago, a project’s data could be managed with excel files, but now it is getting bigger and bigger, and more and more types of data are involved. Like in my lab, I need to build a more complicated database for the organize the data.
I like to use python, because it is so public and popular. A lot of python users share the code, libraries and experiences online. You may find python in almost every kinds of project you need to face, which makes it a good tool to solve any problems.
AI is a fancy way that realize the logic model by using mathematic methods. I love AI because it let the people focus on designing the rules and let computer help you finish the others. Like we define how to identify an animal is in pain, what’s a strategy to find a labeled nerve, then let computer to finish it. Back to the beginning of 21st century, this need a well trained person to do it.
